The new generation of audio guides that attracts tourists

The origin of audio guides The first audio guides emerged in the mid-20th century. The Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, one of the most important museums in modern and contemporary art, was one of the first to make it easier for its visitors to expand the information of the panels and thus decide their individual experience through a shortwave radio system. It was not until almost a decade later that the first museums incorporated this revolutionary tool as an additional service for their visitors. It was the Museum of Natural History of the United States and the Louvre. Although it seems to us that they have been with each other all their lives, the Prado Museum did not arrive until 2002. From then until today its technological evolution has gone at breakneck speed and we have gone from traditional cassettes to cloud services in no time. It is important to keep this in mind, because it means a real revolution of the museum experience. The present (and future?) of audio guides The new generation of audio guides responds to the digital transformation of the tourism sector, an unstoppable process for which we have technologies that allow us to adapt to the new model of tourist. Features of modern audio guides It is likely that even the name will end up disappearing, because nowadays audio guides are much more than that. Installed on each visitor's mobile device, these are very complete apps that provide "on demand" information. Among the main features we find: They are located on a cloud platformThey are installed on the visitor's mobileThey are automatically activated by GPS, QRs, beacon, ...Custom multimedia contentThey avoid the need for physical elements that can lead to mistrustThey're cheaperThey are accessible from anywhereThey're easy to updateThey act as catchers of new visitors. They provide a large amount of relevant information to property managers and tour guides in order to optimize their contents and adapt them to the needs of the tourist. He knows his opinion is powerful.Sustainable. He is more aware of the impact it has on his travels and activities. It values positively the conservation of natural and cultural heritage.Independent. They organize their own journey and document themselves. The digital transformation of tourism By working in the cloud we can adapt quickly to changes and opportunities and be more effective and efficient. This new generation of audio guides responds to the digital transformation of the sector, which helps us to increase the value of the destination adapting it to the new needs of the visitor. The coronavirus has also changed, and will continue to do so, our travel preferences and the way we relate. From avoiding physical contact in a greeting, something so characteristic of southern European countries, to avoiding places with crowds. In 2020, for example, the tourist attraction of the rural world has increased and also the need to ensure that all hygiene and safety measures are met. We no longer feel so much like physical contact or sharing objects. Apps, such as Aumentur, allow the tourist to use their own mobile device and select the type of content they want to understand the destination.

Under the slogan "The Resilience of Cultural Heritage", this digital edition has brought together more than 500 public and private entities. The meeting also brought together more than 120 exhibitors and more than 3,000 users, both from our country and internationally. Within AR&PA Forum, we have had the opportunity to present Aumentur, the tool that responds to the new way of understanding tourism, helping destinations become smart destinations and attract new visitors. Our platform, which integrates with iOS and Android devices, allows you to have a fully customized app with all the advantages of your own application, but without any of its disadvantages. Thus, at a very low cost, property managers will be able to create and manage their own contents without relying on third parties. By operating through each visitor's mobile, destinations can forget about physical devices or brochures, communicate in different languages, work multimedia contents, .... thus adapting to santiary restrictions. And all combined with Big Data to also obtain usage statistics. The app is activated by smart triggers (bluetooth, GPS, QRS, ...) to offer a complete tourist experience. Aumentur presents the most complete solution for smart destinations at the Tourism Innovation Summit 2020

Between 25 and 27 November, AUMENTUR was present at the Tourism Innovation Summit. TIS 2020 was the event where the challenges and needs faced by the tourism sector to promote its recovery after the COVID19 were discussed. Despite mobility restrictions, and always following health safety regulations, the congress had more than 1,200 visitors in person and almost 8,000 visitors online. TIS was a great international showcase for technology companies in Andalusia and, therefore, AUMENTUR could not miss it. Firstly, because our tool is a clear solution to the challenges that tourist destinations are going to face with a new way of understanding tourism, allowing social distance and adapting to digitalisation. Our platform works through an app that is downloaded directly to the tourist's mobile phone. It is available both on iOS and Android devices. The user thus has access to routes, guides or visits in multimedia format and in his or her own language. Moreover, the app is activated by means of triggers such as Bluetooth, Beacons, QR codes,… By using a single app, the visitor is not forced to download new ones each time he visits a new destination, but rather accesses its contents directly. Tourism and Heritage managers can customise the app and thus have a tool with all the advantages of their own application, but without any of its disadvantages and at a very low cost. Hence, the perfect soluction for a destination app is Aumentur. As it is a cloud platform, there are no hardware maintenance costs, the contents are updated simply, intuitively and in real time, the app is always up to date and it attracts new visitors thanks to being in a Marketplace. Aumentur also has Big Data solutions that provide managers with usage statistics. Aumentur was invited to TIS 2020 by Andalucía Lab, Tusimo Andaluz's innovation hub, as it is part of its DemoLab area.
